Wow, what a challenging and horrible year. We just returned our FIFTH rental car, and NONE of them were for vacation! It’s not over either, we have to rent another one next week.
On February 8th, just after midnight, we were involved in a very sad and tragic accident. I wrote this post describing what had happened, and changed it because it’s just too painful to share. Then, two months later, my husband hit a deer on his way home from work. We have weathered some hard times, my husband and I, and this is no exception.
We are picking up the broken pieces, healing, and moving on.
If it’s one thing I have learned this year, it’s to breath deep and focus on the here and now. I have been working on being calm during chaotic times. It hasn’t been easy, as I tend to be a high energy, caffeine filled, get things done crazy lady.
So, even though my creative muse was beat to a pulp, I have slowly been making my way back to creating. Hallelujah.
Here’s what I have been up to in the studio.
I made some new display stands and did a tutorial on Love My Art Jewelry.
I finished some new rings for the Barbera Festival.
Also, I made a new stamp in a teardrop shape and did a tutorial here.
I’ve also been playing with Fastfire Bronzclay. This piece looks like it was scorched by the sun! I’m still working on the right temperature. Also, I’m not to sure I like the grainy texture.
It has been difficult focusing on things I want to accomplish, so I am taking it slow. Just breathing and staying grounded through the chaos that has befell my husband and I. That is enough for now.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. S o hard sometimes just to keep putting one foot in front of the other s o that we may move through the rough times. I typically don’t leave comments but as I was reading your post my soul was touched by your bravery and just looking at what you’ve been able to create during this time gave me the knowledge and strength to know I too can, stay calm, breathe and know this too shall pass.
Thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much for your comment Cornelia, you are so very kind! This past week was really good. I was able to get back into a work routine and I even fired some new porcelain beads and pendants.
It always amazes me the strength of the human spirit and its will to pick up and carry on, despite trying difficult times. I hope that what has been troubling you will soon pass and you are able to find the strength you need. I wish you all the best in your jewelry ventures!
